SharePoint Error: Unknown error occured

When AVG successfully heals infected file, the page saying Error: Unknown error occured appears instead of the page saying Virus Found: … The file was cleaned and has been saved to the document library.

You may see similar error in SharePoint's log file:

'_layouts/1033/spnewlisting.aspx?CatID=&Source=http://localhost/Document Library/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DocFileUrl=/Document Library' does not exist on the server.

Please be informed that this behavior does not affect healing process or uploading the document. Both operations finish successfully.

Displaying the wrong web page is caused by a bug in Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003. This bug does not affect higher versions of Microsoft SharePoint.

To prevent this error from occurring, please untick Add a listing for this document on Upload document page.

"The installed virus scanner is currently unavailable" message in SharePoint Services 2.0

If you set up too small timeout for virus scanning in SharePoint Central Administration (Security Configuration > Configure antivirus settings), there may occur situation when SharePoint shows "The installed virus scanner is currently unavailable. If the problem persists, contact your administrator" message every time you try to download/upload some document.

This issue does not occur inside AVG as AVG only relies on SharePoint programming interface. The solution is to increase timeout for documents scanning (we recommend the default value - 300s) and restart the World Wide Web Publishing Service.
