Admin Client

Connecting AVG clients and Admin Console to the Admin Server

The AVG clients can be connected to the DataCenter using the correct URL as the communication string. The URL is in format <adress>[:port]

where:

  • <address> is the address of the PC with running AVG Admin Server. The AVG Admin Server is connected to the DataCenter installed on one of the supported database engines. This address can be set as IP address or PC name of the machine, where is the AVG Admin Server installed.
  • [:port] is non-mandatory port number. The default port is 4158.

For example, if the AVG Admin Server is installed on a computer named “myserver” and it is using the default port, the connection string is: myserver:4158

The connection string can be entered into AVG the following way:

  • AVG client
    • AVG - menu Tools - Advanced settings - Remote administration - Server / Port
  • AVG Admin Console
    • AVG Admin Console - menu DataCenter - Connect to AVG DataCenter

Connection of AVG to Remote Administration

To connect AVG 2011 to AVG 2011 Remote Administration, the Remote Administration component has to be installed on the station (client). This component is available with all Network Edition and SBS Edition license numbers. To add the component to current AVG installation, please proceed as follows:

  • download latest AVG installation file from our website
  • run the installation file and select option Add or remove components
  • tick also the option AVG Remote Admin Client and finish the installation

After installation of this component, please fill in the connection string to your DataCenter / AVG Admin Server:

  • open AVG - menu Tools - Advanced settings
  • go to section Remote Administration
  • fill in the address of your AVG Admin Server, which is in format
    [server_name_or_IP] (e.g. 192.168.100.10)
  • enter the port number (4158 by default, can be changed in AVG Admin Server Monitor)
  • click OK to store the settings

The AVG on the station will now connect to the server, and will be configurable using the AVG Admin Console.
