AVG Launches New Education Division to Provide Enhanced Security to Schools Nationwide

AVG for Education also Offering Government Organizations, Non-Profits Anti-Virus Protection at Reduced Costs with US Support

AMSTERDAM, September 14, 2010– AVG Technologies, developers of the world’s most popular free anti-virus software, today announced the official launch of its new division & online education web site, AVG for Education. This unique site has dedicated pages for schools, government institutions and non-profits, which offers AVG Anti-Virus software at reduced costs, backed with free technical support from the United States.

Already protecting over one million computers in U.S. K-12 schools—six percent of total computers in these schools—AVG is helping institutions across the nation combat cyber criminals through its leading anti-virus detection and performance capabilities. Continually confronted with budgets restrictions, schools not only receive discounted software and free technical support, but can also participate in AVG’s customer referral program to receive a five percent donation each time a school referral becomes an AVG customer.

"We needed to find ways to cut spending so we could free up funding to pursue other technology projects. AVG offers great prices to schools, I realized that we would save around seven thousand dollars," said Aaron Spell, network administrator for the entire West Orange-Cove Consolidated Independent School District, located in Orange, Texas. "That is a 40 percent savings to our annual IT budget made simply by switching to a different brand, and a better product no less."

"Schools, non-profits and government institutions are particularly susceptible to internet threats as a result of their very limited budgets and manpower," said Luke Walling VP of Education and Government Sales at AVG Technologies. "Our new division combines award winning security software at substantial discounts together with expert technical support to provide a complete solution for these institutions. We provide access to an expert technical support team based in the United States to assist with deployment of our solutions following best practices, up to and including deploying the solution for our customers if desired."

With the creation of our AVG for Education division, a new level of support is being introduced specifically for Education, Government, and Non-Profit customers. We deliver support by telephone, email, and remote control – all from our offices in the United States, and free of charge.

"Working with AVG has allowed us to save money for many school districts while not sacrificing on the quality of an anti-virus product," said Randy Lindquist, Director of Instructional and Technology Services at Muskegon Area ISD, in Muskegon, MI. "The staff have worked very hard to help us in any way possible and to ensure that we have quality support after we have purchased the product."
